Take Control

So… it’s the second day of the new year.  This is usually the time for people to make their resolutions and decide what kind of goals they are going to achieve in 2o17.  Yesterday I talked about my goals for the year, in regards to TONS of different things…health, fitness, love, life, friendship, extracurricular activities, travel, etc.  Will I achieve them all?  Probably not, but I’m sure as hell gonna try my best to do so!  But you know what I WON’T do?  Make excuses.  I AM THE ONE THAT HAS CONTROL.  Will other things affect my goals?  You bet your ass.  But will I ALLOW them to take control and give up on my goals?  NO FREAKING WAY.  Like today, I was running a fever, had a runny nose, felt like crap, it was raining and cold…but I got out there and ran 3.1 miles anyways (well, I walked more than ran I think…but at least I made the effort!).

For some of you, you have to have TOUGH LOVE with yourself.  You have to dig deep and really decide what it is you want and what you’ll do to achieve that.  It might take giving something up…it might take adding something to the mix…or maybe just adjusting your focus.  But whatever you do…it’s gotta be UP TO YOU. Take control.

Last week I shared an amazing article on Facebook entitled “Hate to Break it to You But You Are the Reason Your Life Sucks So Much.”  Harsh?  Yes.  But totally TRUE. It was so true that I found myself nodding my head so hard and giving myself a headache at all the TRUTH ha.  You can click that title to head to the article itself, but these are three quotes that stood out to me the most and what I took away from it. I’ll vary my focus from just nutrition/fitness so that you can get a variety of situations to use these mindsets.

–“The only thing holding you back from achieving greatness is in fact YOU.”
If you want to lose 25 pounds this year and it’s a logical goal, well let’s freaking do it.  I can tell you that of the people that I’ve coached, I’ve never had ONE person NOT see results if they actually buckled down and followed a workout and nutrition program for its recommended plan and amount of time.  When someone tells me something didn’t work for them, the first question I ask them is, “Well did you follow it to a T?”  If their answer is no, I tell them to go back and try again.  Can you tweak things and still see results?  Sure.  But give it the recommended time for your first round and SEE RESULTS, then worry about changing it up.  Obviously things you’ve tried in the past haven’t worked, so why not try something that has proven results? Eh?

–“You will never be happy if you’re constantly looking at the negatives.”

If you want to have a better relationship with your friend, partner, co-worker, and/or family member…make it happen!  Instead of thinking about all of the negative things about your relationship, focus on the positives and figure out how to make those things COMPOUND.  Don’t just sit down and decide what makes each other unhappy and work on limiting those things from happening…look at what makes you happy and do MORE of it.  If you’re constantly focusing on the negatives and figuring out everything that has gone wrong, it’s hard to see all the good things that are there.  But you know what?  For some of you it might also be a wake-up call that the relationship you’re working so hard to save (even if you’ve been BFFs for 10 years), may be negative in itself and TOXIC.  Surround yourself with people with similar goals and aspirations and you’ll be better for it.  Even if you don’t take that negative relationship away…try to add more positive ones and you’ll see a difference.

–“Don’t stand in the way of your own life, don’t give up when things get hard because quitting will never get you anywhere. Instead work harder and work smarter.”

Let’s focus on careers for this one. So many people are in jobs that they don’t necessarily enjoy, but they make it work because it’s money to support them and their families.  Sometimes you’re stuck for whatever reason.  Or maybe you’re happy working your (albeit slightly mediocre) job because you have less responsibility and you’re okay with that.  Or you may be happy in your job and you already follow the mentality listed above.  Whatever scenario you can relate to, you gotta make it work.  If it’s something worthwhile, supports you and your endeavors and you CAN make it work, do it.  Find ways to make it better and focus on the positives in this one, too.

I can relate greatly to this one…before this year, I was working in a school where I felt unsupported financially and administratively, and to make matters worse I was driving 90 minutes ONE WAY to get there.  I even received a job at another, much closer, location after one year, but wasn’t granted release from my contract to leave.  So did I go back the second year and pout and gripe and bitch and moan about it the entire year?  Well, maybe a few gripes to the great friends I made there…ha…but NO!  I made the best of it.  I relished in the fabulous friendships I made with the teachers and staff.  I made the most of every time I got to work with an individual or group of students. We made the best of a bad situation, and made sure that none of the kids (and most of the teachers) we were helping knew the lack of resources  we actually had.  We worked harder AND smarter.  We were resourceful.  And I survived and am now much closer, much more supported, and much happier in my present situation.  Do I miss the challenges that I faced at my previous position?  Not a chance, but I do miss the great relationships I made while I was there.  But I never gave up and I learned a lot from the situation for sure.

So yeah…to sum it up.  TAKE CONTROL of your life.  Make your own decisions and figure out what you need to do to get to where you want to be.  Even if someone/something else IS to blame, don’t place the blame on them/it.  Take ownership and figure out what you can do to OVERCOME.  Stop overthinking and talking the talk…DO IT and WALK THE WALK.  Prove the doubters wrong.  Better yet, prove YOURSELF wrong.  Hell, you’ve doubted yourself long enough, haven’t you?!  And if you suck at believing in yourself, eventually you’ll stop failing at it if you keep trying.  Let’s FAIL FORWARD.

We had a team call tonight and had to reflect on what our purpose in life was…along with what to enjoy and what to do in this purposeful life. I’ve shared mine below and I encourage you to think about what would fill in YOUR blanks.  Take control…own it.

The Last Hoorah!

I’m looking for TEN people who want to start the new year feeling AMAZING rather than the other 98% of the world feeling miserable. Wake up on New Year’s Day ready to dominate 2016 instead of making the same old resolution every year that doesn’t happen. The holidays are quickly approaching and while all of the parties and events are amazing, food (and lots of it) typically comes with each of them. Unfortunately many of us will put on extra weight. Like me…last year I definitely put on some pounds (damn pumpkin pie). Thankfully I had the tools and support already to help me jump right back in it and I lost the weight…but it wasn’t easy!

I have decided that THIS year I am going to be prepared. WHO’S WITH ME?! Establishing a healthy nutrition plan before the holidays will help us to be more aware of what and how much we are eating. Plus, losing a few pounds before they arrive will give you a little wiggle room to indulge here and there! tongue emoticon Hey – we are only human after all!

So today I tackled my dressers and closets for the FOURTH purge since I started this journey. Now everything I own either fits or will soon and nothing is too big. For the last three purges I kept things because I was worried I’d gain it back or not be comfortable wearing things that actually fit correctly haha. Well, not anymore. GOOD RIDDANCE. I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and am so thankful for all of your support as I’ve gone through the ups and downs of weight loss. I truly am blessed to have amazing friends, family, fellow Fixers, and followers! Thank you Carl Daikeler and the Beachbody Challenge for motivating me to be my best, get healthy, and help to ‪#‎endthetrend‬ of obesity 😀

Transformation Tuesday

Eeep!  Scary post!  It’s been awhile since I’ve had a Transformation Tuesday of my own to share, mainly because the scale hasn’t been going down and I didn’t want to just post past progress.  I recently went to Cancun, as many of you know, and finally put on the first bikini I’ve ever worn in public (picture on the right).  Though my confidence has grown since the picture on the left, it was still nerve-wracking and I felt embarrassed and self conscious after we left our room at the resort to head to the beach.  I even thought about hopping back on the tram to go back to the room and put my tankini on to cover up my tummy.  But as I stood there at the entrance to our section at the beach, I looked around at all of the other women there.  Not because I wanted to compare myself to them, but because I know everyone’s story is different.  Like an article I posted the other day, every tummy has a story.  There were some tummies around me that held babies in the past or even in the present; there were tummies that were a little “puffy” because there was so much delicious food at our resort; big tummies, little tummies, tummies in between.  I thought about my tummy and how I’ve lost 50 pounds, as well as 8 inches in my waist and 8 inches in my hips.  I have loved my body enough to get healthy, be active, and eat cleaner.  So why wasn’t I embracing the changes my body has made and be PROUD of my tummy and baring it to the world.  So I went out onto that beach, took off my coverup, and waded into the Caribbean Sea with a smile on my face and a bounce in my step.  I need to remember that feeling every time I’m down and out or not progressing further toward my goal as quickly as I’d like. I may not be at my goal weight, but I’ve sure come a long way and I need to love my body as much as I have loved this process. 😀

She believed she could…

50 pounds diamond

I’m still reeling in all that has happened this week, but I had to get some things down in writing before I moved on for the day.  So this isn’t cohesive, planned out, or edited…just me. 🙂

A little over a year ago, I hit my breaking point.  I had steadily gained weight since moving to Virginia, especially after getting into a comfortable relationship, quitting smoking, and following an easy, but unhealthy, daily routine.  I don’t know what my highest weight was before then, because I had literally stopped weighing myself.  I tried to keep the pictures people took of me from the neck up, because I was ashamed of what was below…but I didn’t really do anything about it.  My diet consisted of convenience food – microwavable meals, snack bars, packaged products, fast food, and the like.  My husband and I tried to cook healthy dinners more often, but sometimes time got the best of us and the excuses were stronger than we were.

As you know, my journey started on February 24th, when I did my first 21 Day Fix workout and followed the nutrition plan for the first time.  Looking through the book was super eye-opening because a lot of what I’d been eating that I thought was healthy and better for me was actually hindering me.  Granted, a lot of it was better than the alternative, but there was still so much more I could do.  53 weeks ago I didn’t even set any goals, because I didn’t believe I could.  Mentally I had already failed, would never succeed, and was brutally beat down by previous attempts.  In those first three weeks I lost 6 pounds and 9.5 inches.  I was severely disappointed.  Like most everyone else, I wanted something quick…I expected RESULTS!  But then I realized that amount in only 21 days really is results, and thankfully the results kept coming.

In all honesty, I decided to become a coach because I wanted the discount.  I wanted to be able to get more programs, keep getting Shakeology, and save money while doing that.  I never intended to really share everything out in the open.  But I was so excited with the results I had gotten, knowing I had found something that worked and that was easier to follow because it was all written out, plus I only had to dedicate 30 minutes a day to working out.  I could handle this…but I knew others could, too.   When I lost more weight, I shared it.  When I dropped a pant size, I was so excited and had to post about that.  When people asked me about it, I told them.  And that all motivated me to keep going and keep sharing, and little by little as I was shrinking, something else was growing.  My confidence, my strength, my business.

Today was a great day for two reasons – I became a Diamond coach and I finally reached FIFTY pounds in weight loss.  Some of you may have read my one-year wrap-up, and noticed I had only gotten to 49.1 at that point.  Even though I didn’t initially place any goals for myself, because of fear of failure, I did modify that decision along the way.  I wanted to be under 200, then I wanted 175.  Once I hit 175 I decided that 150 wasn’t that far away.  That’s still my ultimate goal, but obviously the sky’s the limit, and as long as I keep at a steady pace and do it in a healthy way, I don’t have any doubt that I will reach that goal and EXCEED it as well.  When I stepped on the scale this morning, I felt really silly for doing so since it had only been three days since I started 21 Day Fix Extreme.  Not only do your muscles tend to retaliate and retain water when you start a new workout program, but I’m a woman and, well, you know… Lo and behold, I was down EXACTLY the 0.9 pounds I needed to hit 50 pounds of weight loss.  And I’m so happy that I get to have that memory along with making Diamond Coach.

A Diamond Coach rank is something that less than 3% of Team Beachbody coaches achieve.  Not only am I a part of a rockstar team of coaches, The Elite Edge, that ranks in the top 70 teams of almost 400,000 coaches, but my own team, The Fierce Elite, is now 13 strong and they’re pushing me to be a better coach every day.  I will have my name announced on our National Wake-Up Call Monday morning and be published on our website.  This month I also earned Success Club All Stars, which means I was consistent every month for the last year and will be forever branded as an All Star.  ^_^ I get to attend our Summit conference in Nashville, TN in July, as well as a cruise to Jamaica and Haiti in a little over a year, BOTH FOR FREE.  I have been able to pay off one vehicle, two credit cards, and pay down a huge chunk on other debts that have accrued over the years, as well as have extra spending money for races, ski trips, and all the new clothes I need haha.  And the best part?  All I had to do was help others reach their goals, get healthy, lose weight, tone up, and/or feel better about themselves.  And while helping them, they were motivating and inspiring ME, and keeping me accountable.

I’m glad that I dropped all of my excuses and decided to believe in myself.  I would never have made it this far without having more confidence in myself, and knowing that I could do whatever I put my mind to doing.  I couldn’t be more proud of my team and those that I coach, and I couldn’t be happier than where I am right now.  I am so thankful for all of the support I’ve gotten in every endeavor I’ve ever had, but especially in this last year.  Your pushing kept me pushing.  I know that being a product of this company has changed my life in so many ways, and I can’t wait for the next step!!

One year wrap-up in 905 words ^_^

So today marks one year since I started this weight loss journey and decided to change my lifestyle to a healthier one FOR GOOD.  Though I did my first 21 Day Fix workout on February 24, 2014, I have to backtrack a little bit to when my challenge pack first arrived.  There was one bigger book with a whole lot of colors and lists, and like three little pamphets, plus three dvds, a bunch of containers that seemed so tiny, a shaker cup and this giant bag of Shakeology.  I was very nervous and trepidatious at first, because everything else I had been trying hadn’t worked.  I’d lose some weight then gain it right back the second I looked at chocolate cake or pizza.  It was logical to be skeptical right?  But then I sat down and started calculating.  TWO THOUSAND CALORIES.  The program had me eating five times a day and 2000 calories.  Sheyeah right.  I had literally been shooting for 1200 ever since I could remember…but I decided that I had to give it the three weeks and put my trust in something unknown to see what it could do.

My coach had added me to a private online accountability group and we had to check in, and show pictures of our food, and take sweaty selfies, and share our experiences with each other.  Not only had weight loss and fitness been a pretty individual thing for me up until that point, but a lot of the other challengers didn’t have much to lose and I felt like the token fat chick.  But I quickly learned a lot of things about myself and others in just those three weeks.  The first thing I learned was, just because someone is a size 2 doesn’t mean they are happy with their body.  I was confused why someone so small would want to be doing a diet and exercise program.  I had assumed that everyone did Beachbody programs because they wanted to lose weight.  Little did I know that the nutrition plans that were provided with the programs not only could help someone lose weight, but could assist in maintaining and even GAINING weight!  And the workout programs all have a modifier to make things lower impact, while there’s always some over-zealous person on screen to amp things up a bit, too.  And I was also participating in this group with some ladies that were very comfortable with their size 18 bodies, but just wanted to be healthier wives, moms, lovers, etc.  I quickly learned that everyone is on their own journey, and you should never compare your journey to anyone else’s.  We all have different steps to follow, and even missteps we will take along the way.  We have different reasons and motivation that push us in the directions we go, and temptations that will drive us backward if we let them.

Those little containers weren’t so little after I realized how much food you really could eat when it was fueling your body for optimal nutrition and health.  Long gone were the days of starving myself on purpose, eating 1200 calories without taking into account the workout I did for the day, or chain-smoking to keep myself from overeating.  This was a much more advanced way of thinking but strangely simplistic and easy to follow once I got the hang of it.  The workouts kicked my ass, but in all honesty I hadn’t really put forth the effort I needed to start burning fat and raising my metabolism to help me from the inside out.   And 21 days later I was 6 pounds and 9.5 inches smaller and on my way to being healthier, happier, and more confident.  It was then that I made the decision to become a coach because I had found a solution that works and it was like the Fountain of Youth…I just needed to share it with everyone so they could see results, too.

Fast foward to today and here’s a quick recap of my accomplishments over the past 365 days, of which I’m pretty darn proud…

–I completed three dedicated rounds of the 21 Day Fix
–I nailed the 14-week Focus T25 program (Alpha, Beta, and Gamma)
–I dabbled in a TurboFire/PiYo hybrid while training for the half
–Oh yeah…I trained 12 weeks for and completed a half marathon (with no walking)
–I am three days from completing the 60 day Les Mills Combat program
–I am about to start 21 Day Fix Extreme on Monday, March 2nd
–I now coach 133 people and lead a team of 11 coaches
-I have lost 49.1 pounds and 36 inches.
-I went from a size 18 to a size 10; XL to medium.
-I have more confidence, I’m healthier,  I have plenty of energy to complete my tasks, my body is able to handle more than it ever could, and I’m happier.

And my journey is not over yet. No, I didn’t quite make it to fifty pounds before my one year, like I had imagined, but with everything else that I’ve gained (and lost) this year, I could hardly be disappointed in myself.  I’ve worked really hard, but played really hard, too.  I’m not perfect.  I make mistakes.  And I’ll be the first to admit that some of the choices I make still aren’t the healthiest.  But I make it work and I know how to reel it back in and get back on track.  This isn’t just a diet or a 21 day program…it’s a lifestyle.  And I’m never going back.

Reflection on 2014 and Best Wishes for 2015

When 2014 started, I honestly didn’t have any expectations of the coming year.  I gave up on New Year’s Resolutions a long time ago!  But when I think back over the last 364 days, I realize there were a lot of monumental changes in my life this year.  Not only did I finally get my health and fitness on the right track, but I achieved a lot of goals that I set out for myself along the way.  And I have come to the realization that setting smaller goals and achieving them little by little was the way that worked for me.  I certainly didn’t start out January 1st planning on running a half marathon in November.  And I definitely didn’t know I would eventually lose over 46 pounds and almost 40 inches before December 31st.  I decided to sit here for a moment and list the things I was able to achieve this year  so that I can start thinking about the goals I want to set for 2015.  I also included some important things I’ve gained, along with the losses.  I hope I inspire you to do the same…remember little changes lead to big ones.  There is no accomplishment too small to count!

Accomplishments for 2015, in no particular order

-Completed a 3 week workout program (21 Day Fix) fully, three times
(Feb. 24-March 12, Sept. 1-21, Nov. 29-Dec.19)
-Completed a 14 week workout program (T25 Alpha, Beta, Gamma)
(Alpha/Beta March 31-June 9 & Gamma June 23-July 18)
-Completed a 12 week Half Marathon training program
(Aug. 25-Nov.15)
-Ran less than a 10 minute mile (April 12)
-Ran less than a 9 minute mile (June)
-Ran less than an 8 minute mile (Nov.)
-Ran a 5k in less than 30 minutes (Oct. 7)
-Ran a 10k distance (not an official race) in less than 1 hour (Sept. 28)
-Ran a half marathon in 2:01:46 without walking (Nov. 15)
-Lost 46.5 pounds and 38 inches (Feb. 24 – Dec. 31)
-Went from a size 16/18 to a size 10, XL/XXL to a M/L
-Did a yoga bind (Dec. 15)
-Became a Beachbody coach and now support almost 90(!) people around the United States and Canada on their weight loss journeys (March 1)

But beyond all of these accomplisments and losses, there are three very important things I GAINED throughout this year.

SUPPORT SYSTEM
Not only do I have the support of my loving husband, family, and friends, but I now have added a network of coaches, other runners, accountability groups, fitness junkies, etc. that I speak to DAILY about our goals, dreams, aspirations, and struggles.  Having this support system was honestly the key to my success.  Without all of you and your inspirational and motivational posts, pictures, high fives, and kicks in the butt, I wouldn’t be where I am right now.

CONFIDENCE
Those of you that know me personally know I’m not really shy, but it takes me a bit to open up about my personal feelings.  Having gained 80 pounds since high school has always plagued me, but I never had the courage to do anything about it.  Now I have the confidence to see how far I’ve come, know I can reach the rest of my goals no matter how rough, and help others do the same.

MOTIVATION
Once I figured out my “WHY” it made it all that much easier to start achieving my goals.  But your WHY needs to be STRONG ENOUGH and you have to be willing to put in the work.  I never realized that until this year.  When times got tough before, I gave up.  Thinking back to when my husband proposed to me, I wanted to lose weight for our wedding which was to take place 9 months later.  Though I lost a little, I still walked down the aisle in a size 18 dress.  I knew he loved me in the body I was in, and that was always lingering in the back of my head.  I know today that he’ll still love me no matter what my pant size is, how far I can run, what kind of food I eat, etc. but I want to be healthy for our future child(ren).  I want to end the trend of obesity in my own household so that we aren’t just another statistic.  I want to stop the risk factors we have for hereditary issues dead in their tracks and never look back.  Those wants are powerful enough to keep me going…to keep me working toward my ultimate goals, no matter how long they take.  And I know I have the support system, confidence and motivation to get there.

I hope your 2014 was monumental, no matter how big or small your accomplisments were.  Write them down, reflect, and think about what you have to do going forward to take you further.  If you need help, I recommend finding a support system.  Talk about your goals.  Post them around you so you can see/hear/reflect on them daily.    Share them with others.  Share them with me!  Make 2015 great, no matter what you’ve got going on around you!

YEAR END RESULTS!

10 months, 47 pounds, 38 inches down…18 pounds to go until my ultimate goal weight!

Common Misconceptions

One of my first blog posts was called “The Ugly Truth” and though it was filled with lots of useful information, I felt it necessary to revisit some of those ideas, and also some common misconceptions that many have regarding health, fitness, weight loss, Beachbody, and Shakeology.

Misconception #1: You have to eat less to lose weight.
When I was in college, I started an at-home workout program (from Beachbody, ironically haha) but didn’t follow the suggested food plan.  I ate 1200 calories, didn’t eat back any of the calories I burned, and a majority of those calories were from convenience foods lacking in nutritional benefits.  Did I lose weight?  Of course!  Did it stay off?  Not on your life!  I gained every pound back, and even more, the minute I ate more than usual or skipped a work out.  When I started this journey over in February, I was nearly 215 pounds and the program I was following had me eating 2000 calories.  Yes, 2000 and it was a TON of food.  And I still lost weight and inches.  It’s all in WHAT you eat, not necessarily the amount.

Misconception #2: Eating healthy is too expensive.
With a lot of what is in the media regarding food, diet, and nutrition lately, a lot of people think that eating healthy means eating all fresh foods, organic, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.  and those options aren’t always as cost-efficient or as convenient as other things we are used to getting.  Each person has their own dietary needs and some follow certain guidelines because they need to rather than want to, for various reasons.  While eating some of these ways can be extremely beneficial, for others it is just not necessary.  My husband and I spend $75-100 a week (total, not each, and amyn times less) on groceries for the two of us and that includes lean meats, fruits and vegetables, healthy fats, whole grains, dairy, and yes, that even includes Shakeology for BOTH of us.  Think about how much you spend each week on fast food, coffee drinks, going out to dinner, and/or other convenience foods.  Is it more than $3.50 a day or $25 a week?  I pay less than that and every time I drink Shakeology I know I’m getting essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that come from whole foods, that curbs my cravings, helps my hair and nails grow, keeps me full until my next meal, and helps me to stay healthy (sickness is limited to seasonal allergies!).  Most convenient foods are full of additives and are high in sugar and sodium that is very harmful, especially for those with any health issues or those prone to them.

Misconception #3: What hasn’t/has worked for someone else, won’t/will work for me
Remember that everyone is different.  There is no “one size fits all” in regards to nutrition and fitness.  I wish it were that easy! There are a lot of different options out there and if you’ve tried something and it hasn’t worked, don’t give up.  Try something else!  I did WW twice and couldn’t handle all of the freedom it gave me.  I could eat all fast food and drink empty calories and still stay in my points, and I knew that wasn’t the best thing for me.  But it has worked for many of my friends and I’m super proud of their success!  I tried four or five different diet pills, but didn’t like how they made me feel.  I was jittery, plus nothing suppressed my appetite to keep me from making poor food choices anyways.  I’ve tried low-carb, no-carb, high protein, low calorie, super restrictive, etc. etc. etc. and nothing worked for me until I realized that for me it was all about portion control and balance.

Misconception #4: As long as you work out, you can eat whatever you want.
As much as we all would love to believe this statement, it just isn’t true.  For those of you trying to lose weight, food choices (see how I didn’t call it a diet?) are 80% of the battle.  If you just make changes in what you eat, you’ll see the pounds start to come off even if you aren’t hitting up the gym, using an at-home workout, walking, running, or whatever.  If you’re trying to stay within a certain amount of calories, you can always eat back at least a portion of what you burn with a workout, but your body needs FUEL to make the changes you’re hoping to see.  Food choices should work together rather than against each other to help your body recover, build muscle, and burn fat.

Misconception #5: You can never eat fast food, desserts, or chocolate, or drink beer or wine ever again if you expect to be healthy and lose weight.
If these are items you couldn’t dream of letting go, you’re in luck…you don’t have to say goodbye!  I’m sure you’ve heard it before…”All in Moderation.”  You can indulge from time to time, but if your daily menu consists of these items more than anything else, it might be time for an intervention.  Many of these items are lacking in nutritional value, and have no real benefit for your body except for comfort and, for some, stability.  There are plenty of choices eating out that are healthier than a super-sized fast-food sandwich, fries, and milkshake, with a pie on the side.  There are a lot of delicious desserts and chocolate options that are satisfying.  Plus an occasional alcoholic beverage or two (even three) won’t hurt too much, but limiting that consumption to one day rather than multiple days during the week will leave your body feeling better.
